1+1 doesnt always equals 2

Atleast in managing projects!!!

Ask a project manager,"How many days would it take to complete a task that can be completed in 2 days?".
Some may respond "3 days" while others may respond even "5 days".Such is the uncertainty in a project that
even a scientifically obvious answer is not the right answer.

Uncertainties can be handled

Since uncertainties are always part of a business, it is part of a project too. To handle uncertainties, it is imperative to inculcate a continuous improvement mindset."Theory of constraints" is one such successful and robust philosophy that helps a business achieve its objective.

Theory of Constraints?

Theory of Constraints (TOC)

Theory of constraints is a management philosophy that believes "An organisation's growth is limited by one or only few core constraints."It relies on the basic premises of cause and effect relationship in a system. Application of TOC in project management , often known as CCPM, is one of the most successful methods to handle projects effectively.

Critical chain project management (CCPM) is the TOC application in project management wherein invalid assumptions in projects are replaced with robust understanding of how a project flows, variables that affect it and ways to eliminate the impact of uncertainties.
